Glasgow Rangers are one of the most famous clubs in world football. The Rangers family are based at Ibrox stadium in Glasgow. We are the most successful domestic club site in the world and in May 2003 we won a world record 50 league championships. We have fans in every corner of the globe and people from as far as the USA, Australia and Canada travel over to watch the famous Glasgow Rangers.
Rangers FC are one of the sports great romantic tales. A real rags to riches story. The club was formed by four young boys in 1872 (not 1873 as is often claimed) Moses and Peter McNeill, Peter Campbell and William McBeath. The date of 1873 is recognised because that was the year when the club had their first annual meeting and officers were elected. Rangers were becoming business like. The players had formal training sessions and a fixture list was drawn up.
Four youths that got caught up in tidal wave of enthusiasm for associated football, which swept through Great Britain in the latter part of the 19th century, formed a football club purely out of love for the game. who would have thought, all those years ago, that these lads, who were so hard up they had to pool together to buy a leather ball, laid the foundations for what is now a major multi million pound industry ?
